Don is the Division of Insurance Deputy Director overseeing financial risk management and research.  His branch is responsible for developing the rate case used by the FDIC Board to set deposit insurance assessments and to determine target insurance fund levels; for participating in examinations to assess complex risk management models operated by FDIC supervised banks; for providing analysis to support enforcement of Fair Lending laws; and for guiding research on the financial services industry and consumer finance.  Recent projects in Don’s branch include development of rules to implement deposit insurance reform, interagency proposals for offsite Basel II data, support for FDIC’s international initiatives, and large bank resolutions strategies, systems, and planning.

Don has served in various regulatory capacities, including examinations, supervisory policy, implementing technology, bank industry analysis, and deposit insurance.  He has worked for the FDIC, FFIEC, and the private sector.
