Carlos Isoard has served as Member of the Governing Board of the Instituto para la Protección al Ahorro Bancario (IPAB), Mexico, since May 1999, after being reappointed in December, 2004 for an additional term of 4 years. Before joining IPAB he worked for the Banco de México (Central Bank) in several capacities: General Director of the Commercial Development Trust Fund (1991-1999); Banco de México representative to several Boards, or Board Committees of government banks, trusts and other public institutions (1989-1999); Deputy Manager of Programs in the Credit and Development Division (1989-1991); and as Research Economist (1972-1989). Since 2002 he is the Chair of the Latin America Regional Committee of IADI and was a member of the Working Group on Deposit Insurance of the Financial Stability Forum, from 1999 to 2002. He holds a MA degree in Economics from the University of Chicago (1977) and a BA in the same field from ITAM (Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México) (1974). Since December 2006 he is a Member of the Advisory Council of the School of Economics of the Universidad Panamericana, where he teached from 1978 to 2003. He also taught ITAM in 1977. He speaks English and Spanish. |
